Oh pizza! How I wish I could get away with eating you for breakfast, lunch and dinner – but alas, you are a sometimes food, so I better make it worth my while when I do get to eat the cheesy goodness!
The Foodie Friends and I headed down to Mack Daddy’s New York Slice after work to check out their American style pizza – the promise of slices the size we had never seen before. It was a Tuesday night so it wasn’t packed, but there was a steady stream of customers. The weather has FINALLY (seriously, why is it this cold still in Perth in NOVEMBER!) started to warm so we grabbed the outside table with a head on view of the huge pizza oven and the guys hard at work.
Seeing as there was five of us (all accomplished pizza eaters), we ordered two of the 22 inch pizzas, the Buffalo Chicken (Louisiana base, buffalo chicken, grande mozzarella, blue cheese) & the Big Tony’s Pepperoni (pepperoni with grande mozzarella), and one 16 inch pizza – The Baller (Italian sausage, meatballs, onion, chilli, grande mozzarella and tomato sauce).
The Buffalo Chicken arrived first and what a sight to behold! Even though we could see them making and cooking the pizza I don’t think anyone realised how big it would be until it was in front of our hungry eyes. This one was definitely my favourite – I loved the flavour of the buffalo chicken and blue cheese combo – can never go wrong with this! Their base was just the right amount of thin, chewy and crispy (never been a fan of thick bases – it’s all about the toppings for me!).
The Pepperoni was simple but delicious and the Baller was pretty tasty but I think by that point we had started to get a bit too full to fully appreciate it.
We tried but were defeated – lucky that Mack Daddy’s were more than happy to pack up our leftovers and hand out doggy bags! Cold pizza is almost better than fresh pizza IMO 😛
The whole night worked out to about $24 a person – great value for the taste and size, especially seeing as we had plenty of leftovers to take home. Looking forward to trying out the ice-cream shakes and the mozzarella sticks next time we visit.
