If you’re looking for something a bit different for brunch, but guaranteed damn delicious, then tbsp. (Tablespoon) in Bayswater is where it’s at!
Their menu is a mix of Asian inspired dishes and awesome classics taken to the next level! Not to mention the drool-worthy custom donuts and cakes gracing their counter and always-on-point coffee game.
There is one particular dish here that has won my heart so I always order this (I’ll leave the best till last, so keep reading below); but I’m lucky enough to have friends who are willing to share so I got a tasting of both of their breakfasts ^_^
“Best zuchinni fritters ever” were the words uttered from my bestie after tasting this dish. Veggie fritters can sometimes be pretty underwhelming if they aren’t seasoned properly or cooked through (no one likes a soggy fritter), but there was no need to worry. These Zucchini & Corn Fritters were crispy and full of flavour on their own but with the addition of bacon, fried egg, mayo, okonomi sauce and bonito flakes, they made for an excellent savoury breakky.
And now onto the Sweet French Toast; made with brioche, a bite of these generous slices tasted just like a breakfast donut! Light and airy sweet insides with a crispy buttery outside – if you’re a sweet tooth this is the dish for you! Make sure to top that perfect bite with the whipped honey butter and cereal crunch (side of bacon).
Finally, my favourite dish – Roasted rice cakes with spicy miso pork ragu, pickled daikon and a slow-cooked egg. They took this off the menu at some point a year or so ago and I was devastated! But then they brought it back and all was right in the world again 😛 I order this every time I visit as it is just so damn moreish! The rice cake noodles are filling and crispy (and gluten free); the Korean spiced creamy pork ragu is meaty and rich, but the tartness of the pickled cabbage and the fresh spring onions balances this perfectly. Topped with an egg, this dish is the perfect savoury, filling brunch dish – you MUST try it!
See you again soon tbsp!
